Octagon Poker Table For Sale

By Geoffrey On November 30, 2009No Comments

If you play poker at home, there’s a good chance you do it on the kitchen table, or on a standard square folding card table. It’s what most casual poker players do, and it’s been going on for a long time. After all, these standard tables work perfectly well, and no one wants to spend any extra money buying furniture that they don’t really need. Who needs an octagon poker table to get in the way?

Well, chances are, you probably do. If you play poker with more than three other people, there’s a good chance you can tell why, too. Square card tables force more than four players to try and squeeze in on the corners of the table, and don’t give them a whole lot of room to play. If you’ve ever squished yourself between your buddies to get in on the game, you probably know that these standard card tables aren’t ideal for larger games of poker. Nobody likes playing on the corner of the table.

You can always play around a rectangular table, like the one in most dining rooms, but it has some real downsides, too. After all, a rectangular table is going to put at least one player at a significant distance from the dealer, and the center of the table. At best, you’ll all end up having a little trouble seeing what’s going on in the middle.

That makes for an annoying game with a lot of leaning over the table, or walking around to see what’s going on. You might get a glimpse of someone else’s hand, too, which can make all the players pretty uncomfortable. It’s just not the best way to play.

That’s why an octagon poker table is such a good idea. It’s about the same size as a regular card table – forty-eight to fifty-two inches, depending on whether you measure across the diagonal or from flat side to flat side. It’s also comfortable to sit around, gives every player the same amount of space for sitting and playing, and keeps all players the same distance from the cards. A simple purchase like this can make your poker nights a whole lot more fun!

Instead of being able to comfortably play poker with four players, and uncomfortably squeeze in a few more, you’ll suddenly be able to have space for up eight players, with lots of room for everyone. Plus, a good octagon poker table is made from solid wood, and has a few little extras that can make the game fun, like ash tray holders, cup holders, and chip organization for every player.

A good table will also match your existing decor. The most popular finishes for an octagonal poker table include mahogany, natural, and oak coloration. Table surfaces are upholstered in a durable fabric that protects the table and makes playing easier, and you can choose the fabric color to match the inside of every cup holder. Green, red, and black are the most popular fabric colors.

Plus, a good octagonal poker table will fold up, just like your old card table, but it won’t wobble the same way when it’s set up and ready for play. A Sur-Lok style folding mechanism keeps most poker tables steady, while maintaining their portability. Add in a few matching poker chairs, and you’ve got a great setup for a really big game. It’ll make your poker nights a whole lot more fun for everyone involved.

Don’t make the mistake of believing that your regular old kitchen or card table is the best choice for playing poker with your friends. It might seem like a big purchase at first, but a good poker table is well worth it, and may not be as expensive as you think. After all, there are some surprisingly good deals on poker furniture available online, and in your local gaming supplies store. You’ll be surprised at how little you can pay for a good quality poker table.

Whether you’re a serious poker player, or a casual gamer who’d like to invite more than just two or three friends to your poker game, you’re going to be happy buying one of these effective and useful poker tables. The whole game will get a lot easier and more fun to play. Set up your table in a well lit gaming room and bring along some refreshments – it’s time to play.

Remember to learn how to take care of your octagonal poker table before you start, however. Since it’s real wood, not plastic, metal, or composite wood, it will need a little bit of care. The good news is that modern finishes mean that there’s not all that much maintenance to be done in most cases. Just make sure that your poker table doesn’t end up being stored anywhere wet, and keep it polished with a good quality furniture polish. Vacuum or wipe down the upholstery immediately if there’s a spill, and you’ll find your table lasts a long time.

So, if you love poker, it’s time to check out a few of your options. Don’t condemn yourself to cramped, uncomfortable games, or poker where you can’t really see what’s going on. Get a dedicated, all wood poker table that’ll allow you and up to seven of your buddies to have a fantastic card game. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference good poker furniture can make.

Any serious card player needs a good place to play poker, after all. There’s a reason that pros get particular about their poker room furniture and equipment. If they’re serious, you should be too. Check out all the octagonal poker tables on the market, and choose one that’s high quality, durable enough to last for years to come, and won’t break your budget. Then, start playing, and have a great game!
